Wainscoting is a decorative masonry panel typically installed 36” above grade. A proper masonry wainscoting installation can not only add curb appeal and elegance to your home but adds a layer protection during the high moisture winters we are exposed to here in the High Sierra environment. These installations can be installed in either Thin Veneer or Full Stone applications
A proper masonry wainscoting adds not only a waterproof barrier but can add an element of non combustible material and aid in defensible space.
In contrast, an improper installation puts your home at risk to moisture infiltration and your framing to become susceptible to costly rot.
A proper exterior wainscoting installation consists of:
1. Flashing slipped behind the siding of your home to prevent water from infiltrating behind your masonry with capillary action
2. A Watertable which can made from either wood, stone or cementitious material. The Watertable allows for water to shed away from your home.
3. A water resistant barrier in the form of an asphalt based product over plywood sheathing
4. A stainless steel lath which is attached mechanically using fasteners to create a rigid surface for cementitious mortars to bond for strength
5. Full stone veneers are also installed with wall ties fastened to stud framing adding an extra element of shear strength to account for the additional weight of these materials
6.Other important components include hemp wicks to compensate for any infiltrated water
Our team stands by installing all wainscoting projects to meet standards that protect our clients homes and provide superior quality that our brand is known for.
